Hi!

As promised I thought I would give you all an update on my seborrhoeic dermatits. In my last post, I had started using Daktacort cream on my face, which has active ingrediants of hydrocortisone and miconazole nitrate. Although I was a bit apprehensive of using hydrocortisone on my face I noticed a dramatic difference within 1 weeks useage.

After I completed 2 weeks of using Daktacort cream day and night as prescribed by the doctor, I started to use Aloe Vera gel as an alternative. I was also washing my face with Nizoral shampoo in the morning on alternate days followed by Aqueous cream as a face wash. (I also wash my face with Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant every night – I can’t live without it)

Anyway, the aloe vera gel was quite plesant to use, I read several reviews saying the gel can be quite sticky, however I didn’t find this a problem. I also put the gel in the fridge (Daktacort cream has to also go in the fridge) so it was quite cooling to use.

I must admit I can see a vast improvement and I think in some sense I am just relieved that I actually know what to do andhow to control it when I have a flare up.

Let me know if you have ever suffered from something like this.

xoxo

So I have suffered from eczema all my life but it was only until I was around 14 I started to get eczema on my face. As a teenagaer I found this really destressing and plastered my face in make up to cover it up (in hindsight it was probably making it worse!)

I had a patch test when I was around 18 and I was told that I was allergic to nickel and lanolin (wools grease) which was actually quite a relief to find ingrediants to avoid! I checked the ingrediants of all the products I was using, I noticed my face wipes had lanolin in so I stopped using them and my skin started to clear up.

Anyway years had passed and sometimes my face would be fine and other times I would get really bad flare ups (especially around exam time!). I would just bare through it and use hydrocorrisone when it was really bad (which does have side effects when used on a long term basis) and I just learned to live with it. I had given up with going to the doctor as each time he just kept giving me the same treatments!

I’m not sure what spurred me on but I went to the doctors and usual doctor was not in so I saw the replacement. I told him my problems and he took one look at my face and said I know what you have got seborrheic dematitis. He explained that it was a condition that was very similar to dandruff where the skin is reacting to the yeast on my skin. I was told that there is no cure for this however he did prescribe me Daktacort which is a mix of hydracortisone and miconazole nitrate. He also recommended that I use aqueous cream as a facial wash to help it.

So I am going to start my treatment and I will keep you updated in two weeks with the results.

Post soon xoxo
