Creme de la mer

That’s  right  peeps, after months and years of wanting I finally have the crème de la crème - Crème De La Mer :-) Words could not explain how excited I was when I was presented with the shiny green box, no one had to even tell me what it was, I could see from a mile away!

If you have never heard of Crème De La Mer before, let me tell you a bit about it. Formulated by Dr Max Huber an aerospace physicist, after suffering from scarred skin he decided to produce a moisturiser himself. Numerous attempts later, he found that the blending mix of sea kelp, an array of other ingredients along with creative fermentation he discovered the perfect formula!

Nicknamed as the ”Miracle” cream, I couldn’t wait to open the box and inside I found the white container and the tiny spatula positioned underneath it. I instantly dipped the spatula in the container and starting rubbing the cream into my face and my first thought was that it is a bit thick for a day cream! A tiny bit disappointed, but not wanting to show my true feelings I thought it would be a good idea to read the leaflet that came with it.

I soon realised that this is what I should of done in the first place! There were clear instructions on how I should scoope out a pea size amount and then rub the cream between the palms of my hands to activate the ingredients. The consistency should change from a white thick consistency to a clear liquid. Once I had mastered this and it took several attempts, I then started rubbing the cream into my face and my first initial disappointment had disappeared! :-)  I have now been using it for a couple of weeks and I don’t know how I lived without it, especially in this winter UK weather I have been experiencing, it is a perfect night cream. My only down side to it, is remembering to apply it earlier in my routine in the morning to give it sufficient time to sink in before I apply my makeup.

But if that is the only flaw I can find compared to the benefits it provides of younger, clearer and radiant skin, they certainly have my vote! Its a bit pricey I know, but definitely worth every penny and lasts a long time!

Bargain Makeup from Primark

Posted by Thatsgirly on July 23, 2009 - 10:11 pm

primark-makeupI was in Manchester at the weekend for a fab Graduation ceremony (exactly a year today since mine!)  and I couldn’t resist but to head into Manchester city centre for a bit (well a lot) of shopping!

Although there are a lot of designer shops and big department stores in Manchester, I was so happy to come across their big Primark store. I was even more ecstatic to find their new, cheap and funky make up range.

As you can see in the picture they have glammed up their design and it reminds me of a certain brand that have a very similar concept for their packaging (can you guess who?). What I was really impressed with was the price of each product.

£2 for each nail varnish

£2 for the mascara

£2 for the blusher/bronzer

I have tried the nail varnishes and I am very impressed with the colours, there were so many to pick from they are so bright and vibrant and it applies so easily and I only needed to put 2 coats on.

I was also pleased to find that the duo blusher/bronzer came with a cute little brush that can be stored in the box, it was very easily to apply however I did find by midday it wasn’t very noticeable so it didn’t last very long.

I like the idea of the mascara with the double end that can be used to clean up your mistakes, I find that I am always getting mascara on my eyelids when I am applying in the morning. The mascara is waterproof and it did live up to that, however I found that when I curled my eyelashes it didn’t hold the curl and there was a peculiar smell to the mascara that can be slightly off putting.

Overall, I would definatly purchase the nail varnishes again, however I’m not so sure on the mascara and blusher/bronzer. But for the price of each product I don’t think I expected any more. If you need cheap quick fixes this is definatly worth considering!!!

Let me know if you have tried this range or if you have found any bargain makeup!!

Tried and Tested – MAC cleansing Wipes

Posted by Thatsgirly on June 10, 2009 - 11:01 pm

Whilst browsing in my local Cosmetic Company store (which I absolutely love doing every weekend) I came across a excellent bargain – MAC cleansing wipes, 100 for £9.00! I decided this was a must buy and rushed to counter to pay.

In the evening I decided to try the cleansing wipes, I pulled the first wipe out and I noticed it felt quite different to the wipes I normally use (Simple wipes) and the size of the wipes were quite small. Once I removed all of my eye makeup I needed to pull out another one for the rest of my face! I soon decided that I  wasn’t so keen on the wipes, they are not as soft as I thought they would be and they also felt quite chemically. When I was using the wipe it felt like it was stripping too much of the natural oils from my face and left my face quite tight afterwards.

Although the cleansing wipes did the job and removed my makeup, I wasn’t happy with the way it left my skin feeling afterwards.  I love the MAC brand however not so keen on these cleansing  wipes!

Have you ever tried the wipes? Let me know what you think!
